NFU Priorities Fixes Needed For Packer Concentration And Pandemic Relief

Farmers Union members across the country held their Fly In last week on a virtual basis because of the pandemic. South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke says one of the major issues they were all united on had to do with the concentration problem in the meat packing industry and the need to find solutions for that.

He says their group was able to get that concentration problem message out to those members of Congress.

Sombke says another major issue that needs addressing is that Congress must make sure that the pandemic relief given out to farmers and ranchers gets to those who need it the most and not to just the largest producers.

Sombke says two other issues their members are very concerned about is the financial struggles the U.S. Postal Service is going through and the need for better Broadband access across the country.
