The National Farmers Union is opposing the relocation and reorganizing of the USDA’s Economic Research Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
NFU Senior Vice President of Public Policy Rob Larew says there’s been little public input into the process.
He says the decision to reorganize and relocate these USDA offices doesn’t have anything to do with moving jobs out of Washington D.C.as it’s about providing enough information to farmers.
Larew says there are too many unanswered questions about the impact of moving these offices and reorganizing them.
Larew says NFU’s Board of Directors has written to Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue outlining their concerns and also wants Congress to weigh in on the matter.
