National Wildlife Federation leaders claim the move to year round use of E15 is not allowed under the Clean Air Act. Federation President Collin O’Mara says the action is simply not legal and would accelerate the vast damage to wildlife habitat. National Farmers Union Biofuels Advisor Anne Steckel isn’t surprised by the attack on E15 and says ethanol is a much better fuel than petroleum.

She says their major concern isn’t so much attacks by extreme groups against E15 but the need for the EPA to correct the damage done by allowing of RFS waivers to refiners which has hurt ethanol demand.

Steckel wants the administration to move forward quickly with the rule making process for year round use of E15.

The National Wildlife Federation is one of many organizations considering a legal challenge to President Trump’s E15 decision. That group is also a long time critic of the Renewable Fuel Standard claiming it was responsible for widespread negative natural resource impacts.
