Tuesday, the House and Senate Agriculture Appropriation Sub Committees marked up the $ 20.6 Billion 2015 agriculture spending bill. National Farmers Union’s Senior Vice President of programs, Chandler Goule says while his group is glad Country of Origin Labeling was left intact, there were other program cuts they’re concerned about going forward.
Goule says their next step is to work with the full bodies of both chambers to correct the mistakes made in the markup.
Senate Ag Chair Debbie Stabenow also expressed concern with the subcommittees mark saying she’s opposed to their gutting conservation and energy programs and unwinding of the landmark child nutrition law passed in the recent farm bill.
