NFU Focusing On Market Concentration

National Farmers Union members wrapped up their national convention this week that was held virtually. NFU President Rob Larew says they’ll be focusing on trying to find fixes for the market concentration problem facing agriculture.

He says they’ll be working with the Biden Administration and were encouraged to hear from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at their convention that he’s added a staff person at USDA to work on concentration issues.

Larew says NFU and farmers and ranchers for some time have been battling ag market concentration and only recently during the pandemic have consumers been brought up to speed on the issue.

Other policies NFU members are working on include the need for pandemic relief for producers, enhanced biofuel development as well as climate change.
