Last week the House Appropriations Committee approved the 2015 fiscal year ag budget on a 31 to 18 vote. National Farmers Union’s Vice President of programs Chandler Goule says his group is disappointed cuts were made to both the GIPSA and Conservation programs and that renewable energy was severely cut effectively gutting the program.
Goule says he believes the reason the committee gutted the renewable energy program was to set up a future attack on the Renewable Fuel Standard in order to eliminate it.
Goule says the best part of the House Appropriations measure was that it left Title One and the safety net of the Farm Bill intact.
