This week’s meeting at the White House between the President, Senators and the heads of the USDA and the EPA brought a pair of wins for the ethanol industry and one concerning negative possibility. The President called for the offering of E15 year round and no cap on RINS. National Farmers Union Biofuels Advisor Anne Steckel says the major concern is Senator Ted Cruz’s proposal to place a RINS cap on exported ethanol.

She says for any RINS cap on exported ethanol, a new rule would have to be enacted and even if it were, there would likely be legal court challenges to it.

Steckel says the biofuels industry will be united in battling the exported ethanol RINS cap.

Steckel says it’s unclear how some type of RINS ethanol export cap would be done through any rule making process.
