NFU Backs Proposed EPA Rule

Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency released a proposed rule regarding provisions of the Clean Water Act.  Some groups see it as an expansion of EPA’s authority while the National Farmers Union says the proposal is ag friendly.  NFU’s Senior Vice President of programs Chandler Goule says the agency followed a science based approach with their rule.

Goule says the ag exemptions left in the rule along with the new ones are realistic and will be beneficial for producers.

Goule says EPA’s draft rule clarifies Clean Water Act jurisdiction and encourages enrollment in USDA conservation programs.
