National Farmer Organization members have come up with policy calling for elimination of bloc voting by Co-Ops on Federal Milk Marketing Order hearings.
NFO’s National Milk Sales Manager Dick Bylsma says they want individual dairy farmers themselves be allowed to vote. He says that would agree with the plan put forward by the Senior Economist at the American Farm Bureau.
He says as the Federal Milk Marketing Orders are reformed, there should be just one Order in place for the entire country instead of the current eleven.
Bylsma says the regional approach to marketing milk is antiquated and has basically gone away. He says milk is now marketed on a national basis.
Bylsma says NFO leaders have recommended bloc voting be eliminated relating to activities covered under the Capper-Volstead Act, governmental referendums, Federal Milk Marketing Order reform issues and agricultural promotion plans.
