The Onward Yankton group is now in the process of reviewing the final six proposals in the search for the “next big idea.”
The group started the public process in April, gathering more than five hundred ideas before narrowing them down to the final six.
Sponsors of those ideas gave a public presentation last night to explain how their ideas could be implemented. They ranged from a tower near the Missouri River, to an outdoor amusement center west of town, to expanding the role of Mount Marty College in the community.
Committee spokesman Larry Ness says they will get together and talk about the next step…
Ness has contributed ten thousand dollars as seed money for the winning idea.
He says they are looking for a proposal that can grow into the future…
Ness says he was encouraged by the source of the ideas…
Most of the proposals focused on the downtown area.
