Pork processing plants could increase their line speeds under a new rule the USDA is considering.
But workers’ rights groups are coming out against the proposal.
Omaid Zabih with Nebraska Appleseed says workers are already suffering injuries at current line speeds.
Zabih says workers do repetitive hand motions tens of thousands of times each shift.
He says speeding up the line will make the situation worse.
The USDA is reviewing roughly 70,000 comments submitted on the proposed change.
