Following their recent annual meeting held virtually the U.S.Wheat Associates has installed their new officer team for 2020-2021. Taking over as Chairman is Darren Padget of Oregon with Rhonda Larson of Minnesota as Vice Chair. Wheat Associate’s spokesman Steve Mercer says their officers are focusing on market opportunities for U.S. wheat. He says one they’re working on is trying to gain market access in Korea for a specialty wheat.

He says other trade opportunities they’re working on is in South America where they’re hoping to gain more market share.

Mercer says now that the USMCA trade deal is fully implemented that will be helpful for U.S. wheat’s biggest market which is Mexico.

The new USW Chair Darren Padget is a fourth generation farmer from Oregon with dryland wheat and a summer fallow rotation currently producing registered and certified seed on 3,400 acres every year.
