A new study from Trinity Consultants led by the National Biodiesel Board shows that switching to biodiesel results in health benefits as well as decreased cancer risk, fewer premature deaths and reduced asthma attacks. NBB CEO Donnell Rehagen says those benefits are seen at the local level.

NBB’s Director of Government Affairs Floyd Vergara says the study shows they’ve just reached the tip of the iceberg in the amount of health benefits provided by the use of biodiesel.

NBB’s Director of Environmental Science Matt Hermanson says the study proves moving to more biodiesel in the fuel system can greatly improve the quality of life in areas that suffer from high air pollution.

Other co-sponsors of the study included the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, the Iowa and Nebraska Soybean Boards, the California Advanced Biofuels Alliance and the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board.
