A new report, “Medicaid in Small Town America; A Lifeline for Children, Families and Communities was released by Georgetown University. Research professor Jack Hoadley says on average, 45% of children in small towns and rural areas rely on Medicaid for coverage compared to 38% in metro areas. That rate is lower in Nebraska.
Hoadley says the Medicaid rate for adults in Nebraska is the same in rural and urban areas.
Hoadley says either economic conditions improved for Nebraska families or they rely on the Affordable Care Act for insurance. He says what the future holds with that is a guessing game.
