The expected new House Speaker, Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan could help move some key legislation important to agriculture. Ryan backs the recently completed Trans Pacific Partnership agreement. That’s been a long time priority for the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association as well as their parent group, NCBA. Iowa Cattlemen’s Association President Dr. Phil Reemtsma says he’s hoping Ryan’s leadership will help get the trade deal approved by Congress.
He says TPP is important for the overall ag economy.
Reemtsma says another important measure Congressman Ryan can help agriculture with is passage of the National Highway bill.
Last week the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee unanimously passed the highway bill and sent it to the full House.
