The state Senate amended, then passed a bill Tuesday that sets up the funding process for a new animal diagnostic lab at SDSU in Brookings. HB1157 was hoghoused, and changed to an agricultural future development funding bill.
Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot says it has been a long process……..
Frerichs says it is a tough year to find funding for a project like this….
The new lab will cost over sixty five million dollars, and will be financed by state bonds, paid back over thirty years.
Frerichs says the state should look for additional funding when it may be available in the future…..
The bill passed on a thirty-one to four vote, and now heads back to the House for their consideration.
