A new report from the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) on the Minnesota Licensing and Registration System (MNLARS) finds that about 40-percent of vehicle registration tax transactions were inaccurate over a seven-month period–causing some people to pay different amounts on similar transactions. Deputy Legislative Auditor Judy Randall says the errors were due in part to flawed base value calculations.
Randall says in contrast to the registration tax errors, on certain types of transactions, like license plates, wheelage and titles, MNLARS is 99-percent accurate. The OLA report covered the period from July 24th, 2017 through February 28th 2018.
