Nebraska Attorney General-elect Doug Peterson says he will defend Nebraska’s definition of marriage.
But, Peterson adds he expects the United States Supreme Court to take up the issue next year.
Peterson says he expects the American Civil Liberties Union to file a lawsuit soon, and he predicts the lawsuit will follow the same track a similar challenge did in 2005. . .

Peterson anticipates the case will follow the same path a similar challenge did about ten years ago. . .

Peterson says Nebraska’s ban on same-sex marriage is similar to laws upheld by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky, because it is a constitutional amendment rather than just a statute.
