New Meat Export Federation Chair Elect Says Supply Chain Problem A Deep One

Rock Rapids, Iowa livestock producer Dean Meyer has been elected Chair Elect of the U.S.. Meat Export Federation. He says one of the most concerning issues for his group is the backlog at U.S. ports for exports waiting to get out to important markets. He says they’re seeing record export demand for meat but the darkest part is the Supply Chain issue.

He says MEF got a better idea of what the U.S. ports are going through when some of their leaders spoke to them at last week’s annual Meat Export Federation Convention.

Meyer says the U.S. can’t keep up with the demand of our global customers and the port backlog was partially caused by a near record amount of ships waiting to be loaded.

The new U.S. MEF Chairman is Mark Swenson and when his term is up, then Meyer will ascend to the job as leader of the Federation.
