Today new South Dakota State Ag Department farm loan mediation changes go into effect. Ag Department Finance Administrator Terri LaBrie says besides adding federal lands and oil and gas mediation to their program, they’ve also increased the filing fee for farm loan mediations.
LaBrie says mediation is a great resource for both sides looking to resolve disputes and avoid a costly legal process.
She says the number of mediation requests have held steady over the past year and she expects that to continue for next year.
LaBrie says her department also offers financial counseling for their mediation clients.
