The Humane Society of the United States has new leadership. Kitty Block has been named as Acting President and CEO. HSUS Legal Counsel Matt Penzer says Block was named following the resignation of President and CEO Wayne Pacelle amidst sexual harassment allegations.

He says Block’s past experience with the organization will help them going forward.

Penzer says HSUS is united in pushing forward their agenda of protecting animals and working with agriculture producers to find common ground.

Seven HSUS board members also quit after the board originally decided to keep Pacelle, despite his sexual harassment allegations. After that Pacelle voluntarily stepped down.
