Governor Pete Ricketts says ACCESS Nebraska has improved enough to avoid a penalty from the federal government and satisfy a lawsuit filed against the state.
Ricketts says Nebraskans once had to wait 24 minutes for the call center to answer the phone. Now, calls are taken within four minutes.
Ricketts says everyone involved took a hard look at what hung up the process. . .
Health and Human Services CEO Courtney Phillips says much of the problem centered on the state call center, which took nearly half an hour to answer calls. Phillips credits everyone in the Division of Children and Family Services for coming together to resolve the problems. . .
The federal government has dropped its threat to slap a 17-Million dollar penalty on Nebraska. The state is moving to have a lawsuit against it dropped.
