A new technology from Ford Motor Company will make it easier for infrequent towers and expert trailer users alike to back up two-wheel conventional trailers. F-150 Brandt Manager Brandt Coultas says it’s called Pro Trailer Backup Assist and it means trailer users will no longer have to back up the traditional way in which they turn the vehicle wheels the opposite direction they want the trailer to go. He says backing straight is even easier as the trailer does all the work.
Coultas says the technology utilizes the backup camera in the new 2016 Ford F-150 pickups starting in November, and requires the user to take some one time measurements of the trailer dimensions.
He says Pro Trailer Backup Assist is part of the standard towing package for an additional cost of $200 or it can be purchased separately for $395.
