A new corn disease known as Ag Bacterial Leaf Streak Blight has emerged this season in several states in the region, but first showed up in Nebraska two years ago. That’s according to University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Educator Tamara Jackson Ziems. She says it has been a tough disease to identify.
She also says there are many limitations in treating and preventing the disease in corn.
Ziems says they don’t know yet how much yield loss the bacterial disease could cause.
Ziems says Ag Bacterial Leaf Streak Blight is commonly misdiagnosed as gray leaf spot. Besides Nebraska, the disease has been identified in nine states including Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota.
