A new statewide clean energy group has been formed in Nebraska. The organization is focusing on wind and solar energy projects. CO-Chair of Renew Nebraska is Norfolk Mayor Josh Moenning. He says most of the creation of both wind and solar projects is happening in rural areas of the state where it provides great economic opportunities for agriculture.

He says not only are there great economic opportunities with wind and solar but also great benefits from those sources of energy for the environment.

Moenning says they’ll be getting the message out soon about the possibilities for future solar and wind projects in Nebraska.

Moenning says clean energy is attracting new business investment in the corporate marketplace. He says companies like Facebook, Target, Smuckers, Hormel and Pepsi have all driven the demand for new clean energy generation in Nebraska. There’s been $4 billion of capital investment from that new development in recent years.
