The University of Minnesota is building a new six-million dollar bee research facility. Bee expert Maria Spivak says protecting the health of bee pollinators is critical to the state.

Spivak says honey bees and wild bees pollinate more than 70 percent of our fruits and vegetables. The new lab is expected to be complete next June.
