New Angus Beef officials are hoping to open their Aberdeen, South Dakota beef processing plant within the next month. New Angus LLC Executive Chairman and President Keith DeHaan says they’re currently taking test cattle at the facility. He says restarting the former Northern Plains Beef Processing Plant is difficult, but so far everything is going smoothly.

DeHaan says they’re still hiring plant workers.

DeHaan says it’ll be awhile before they’re fully operational. However, at full capacity they’ll be able to process 1500 head of cattle per day. And he says they intend to be very customer driven.

He says they’ve hired Jeff Rousseau as their Vice President of Cattle procurement and producer relations and Rhonda Wolf as their cattle coordinator. Products from the plant will be sold under the Demkota label.
