Now that Sonny Perdue has been confirmed as Ag Secretary, his first job will be to secure other appointments at USDA, including several Undersecretary positions. Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson hopes Perdue can get that done fairly quickly.

He’s also pleased Kristi Boswell, who worked for the American Farm Bureau, has been appointed as a Senior Adviser for Perdue. Nelson says she and AFBF President Zippy Duvall will have a big impact on the new Secretary.

Nelson says following the deputy and undersecretary appointments, Perdue needs to focus on trade and the next farm bill.

Nelson is also hoping Perdue will work with the President to lessen the regulatory burden on farmers and ranchers.
