Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods will be constructing a new pork processing facility in Sioux City, Iowa. Seaboard’s Director of Communication David Eaheart says they will process a full line of fresh pork products for international, retail, food service, and further processing. Site work will begin on the $260 million facility this summer.

He says the plant will be located north of the Sioux Gateway Airport along the Missouri River. He says they chose Sioux City because of the site location, transportation infrastructure and pro-business environment.

Triumph Foods is owned exclusively by pork producers and when combined with Seaboard represents and integrated system from farm to plant. So Eaheart says they’re not sure how many of the 3 million hogs they will buy locally verses pulling from their own supplies.

Construction of the new pork plant will be completed by July 2017.
