Japanese and U.S. trade negotiators are working around the clock to come to some agreement that may lead to a final Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement. They’re hoping to have the U.S-Japanese accord done by the time Japanese Prime Minister Abe comes to Washington to meet with President Obama on April 28th. National Pork Producers Council President Elect John Weber says he’s hoping they can get that done.

Acting Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Wendy Cutler says they’re working as quickly as they can to find some agreement with the Japanese on TPP. Weber is encouraged by that and says it would be great if they can get that done by the end of the month.

Weber says a key component of getting TPP through besides the accord with Japan is getting fast track authority given to the President.

Chief U.S. and Japanese negotiators are expected to meet the middle part of this month so they can move ahead by the time Prime Minister Abe arrives in the United States.
