Officials with the Organization for Competitive Markets and Nebraska Farmers Union are attempting to share the contract concerns of poultry producers with Costco. The groups recently met with producers in West Point, Columbus, Wahoo and Arlington. State Farmers Union President John Hansen says their biggest concern centers around the rate of payment and the length of the contract deal.

He says another issue is Costco’s producer contracts are non-negotiable.

Hansen says they’ve written to Costco CEO Craig Jelinek outlining their concerns but haven’t received a response.

Costco has a new poultry processing plant at Fremont, Nebraska.
