An effort to repeal Nebraska’s motorcycle helmet law has returned to the legislature.
Senator Dave Bloomfield of Hoskins told the Transportation Committee he has two goals in sponsoring his bill to repeal the mandatory helmet law.

Bloomfield says his second goal is to give Nebraskans the right to decide whether to wear a helmet or not.

But National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Nicholas Worrell told the committee repeal would be dangerous.

Worrell says federal statistics demonstrate 10 times as many motorcyclists die in states without helmet laws as in those with mandates.
