Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts along with State Ethanol Board Administrator Roger Berry have submitted comments to the EPA on their proposed renewable volume obligations for ethanol. Berry says the major concern they have and what they’re asking the EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler and President Donald Trump to do is relocate the small refinery waivers granted large oil companies from the RFS.
He says while many of Nebraska’s ethanol plants have cut back production, none have shuttered yet but that could happen unless the reallocation occurs.
Berry says not only do the 31 small refinery exemptions granted recently need addressing but so do several gallons waived in 2016.
Berry said in their recent comments to the EPA, they urged Administrator Wheeler to approve pathways for corn fiber cellulosic ethanol that have been held up too long simply due to political meandering.
