Nebraskans are cautiously optimistic about the economy… both in the U.S. and globally. Nebraska Bankers Association Chairman Mike Pate says there are many signs that the U.S. has come out of recession and should be looking at growth in the future. However, investors aren’t convinced and that’s why they have pulled money out of the stock market and aren’t putting money into new business or business expansion.

He says there are global concerns as well with the slowdown in China’s economy and the devaluation of the Yuan, plus the recent problems in Europe. He says that has left many investors in the U.S. and Nebraska scared.

Pate says the reason is there are too many factors right now that are out of their control.

He says the other flight to safety for investors is the U.S. dollar and that won’t change until the Federal Reserve starts raising interest rates.
