While many Nebraskans are saving for their kids’ or grandkids’ college tuition through the state-run Nebraska Educational Savings Trust or NEST, there’s an alternative. Bob Cole is president of Private College 529, which allows parents and other loved ones to save for tuition at any of nearly 300 private institutions nationwide, including three in Nebraska.

Cole says money saved can be applied to tuition at nearly 300 private colleges and universities nationwide. He says the private plan offers an advantage over state-run plans.
