Nebraska State Senators wrapped up their 2015 session over the weekend. Nebraska Farmers Union leaders says they achieved several wins for agriculture during the session with three major ones. President John Hansen says the first was getting more funding for needed property tax relief.
Hansen says they did fall short in that they weren’t able to lower ag land valuations which will continue to be a problem going forward. He says another major victory was keeping local governments in charge of land use decisions.
He says their third major win was stopping packer ownership of hogs when
Hansen says they also were able to get lawmakers to give some boost to solar and wind projects but fell short in not being able to get a production tax credit passed for wind energy.
