The two day conference for Nebraska Wind and Solar groups opens today in Lincoln. The Wind Conference started 14 years ago and this years, has added solar to its meeting. The Conference Chairman is Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen. He says they have a full agenda with 50 different speakers from around the country attending the in person gathering.

He says solar development has grown greatly in Nebraska over the last few years.

Hansen says wind development has grown from 72 megawatts of Wind on line fourteen years ago to now 2,266 megawatts of Wind power.

Hansen says Wind has been one of the major new sources of rural economic development in Nebraska with about 4.6 billion dollars in new capital investments. He says that generates 18 million dollars of new annual local tax revenues to go to counties and local governments for property taxes as well as 13.3 million of new annual income for farmers.
