A state aid program that provides food for low-income mothers and children is phasing in a new way for people to use the service.

The Nebraska Woman, Infants and Children program plans to implement electronic transaction cards in all state WIC retailers before the end of the year.  Program Manager Peggy Trouba says the Department of Health and Human Services is working hard to make sure the transfer goes smoothly and clients aren’t caught by surprise

Trouba says not all stores that currently allow the program will make the jump

Trouba says if you’re a WIC client and you want to know which stores will make the transition, you can find out by visiting your local WIC clinic. The department wants to have all stores transferred by the end of November.
