Nebraska Video Machines Could Be Taxed

Nebraska Video Machines Could Be Taxed

A proposal to tax video machines suspected of being illegal gambling devices advances in the Nebraska Unicameral, despite some last-minute questions being raised.
Senator Beau McCoy of Omaha objects to imposing a 10-percent tax on machines, unless proven to not be gambling devices.

Supporters, though, say the tax will help determine whether a new form of gambling is trying to be introduced to Nebraska under the radar.

Senator Paul Schumacher of Columbus agrees with a point made by an opponent of his bill.

Under the bill, the tax would be imposed unless the owner could prove they are not illegal gambling devices. Another round of debate is scheduled for the bill.
