Nebraska State Senators wrapped up their legislative session on Wednesday. State Farm Bureau Government Relations Director Ansley Mick says one of the legislative victories for agriculture was passage of a bill to create a rural broadband task force.

She says another win for farmers and ranchers was personal tax relief was connected to the federal tax reform legislation.

Mick says their biggest disappointment was the failure by state lawmakers to pass property tax relief legislation. She says over the interim they’ll be backing the petition drive calling for a ballot measure to address the issue.

85,000 petition signatures are needed by July 5 to get that initiative on the November ballot.
