The 2018 Nebraska Unicameral begins in Lincoln today. State Cattlemen Association Vice President of Legislative Affairs Laura Field says she expects several bills to be introduced early dealing with taxes and the budget. She says part of that will be pushed by a recent ballot initiative on property taxes.

She says lawmakers have a large budget deficit to deal with.

Field also anticipates some tax relief measures to come forward that combine property and income taxes.

This year’s Nebraska legislative session is a shortened one, only 60 days.
