Nebraska State Senators have advanced to final round a measure to lift regulations on wind energy projects in the state. State Senator Al Davis of Hyannis says this will help wind energy projects move forward in Nebraska by eliminating the barriers that have stifled and in some cases stopped that development.

He says Nebraska still lags behind other states in wind development and there’s more work to do to improve that. Davis says, however, this measure will help.

Davis says one of the most important things the legislation does is make it possible for wind projects to take advantage of the federal wind production tax credit.

Nebraska is currently in third place nationally with wind development. Iowa has more wind energy with 6200 megawatts of power, Kansas has close to 3800 megawatts with Nebraska coming in at 890.
