Though the unemployment rate in Nebraska might have ticked up a bit, it remains the lowest in the country.
And, according to the Director of the Bureau of Business Research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, it indicates a very strong state economy.
Eric Thompson says an unemployment rate of 2-point-6 percent is incredibly low.
Nebraska business owners seem very positive about the second half of this year. One of the main components of the leading state economic indicator is a survey of business owners.
Thompson says the other components are home building permits, airline passenger counts, and manufacturing hours.
Thompson says strong business expectations and a decline in the value of the dollar, which actually helps exports, are the leading reasons the indicator is up.
