Nebraska Pork Producers Association President Russ Vering is in the European Union this week on a trade mission led by Nebraska State Agriculture Director Greg Ibach. The trip to London, Brussels and Amsterdam is being funded by the Nebraska Corn Board and the U.S. Meat Export Federation. Vering says he’s excited to see what opportunities there are for selling more pork to the E.U.

He says the timing of the trip is good as U.S. negotiators are working on the Trans Atlantic Trade deal with the Europeans.

Vering says he’s also anxious to learn more about European agriculture and how their farms and pork operations function.

The group left Sunday and will return May 21.
