Two Nebraska educators have been named the 2018 Ag in the Classroom Teachers of the Year. Stephanie Wolf, a special education teacher from Brady Public Schools and Jennifer Johnson, a third-grade teacher at Sutton Public Schools, have been given the award by the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation. Farm Bureau’s Director of Outreach Education Courtney Schaardt says its based on creatively including agriculture in their curriculum.
She says applications for the award are sent out each December with the winners announced in January. Schaardt says a panel makes the final decision on the honorees.
Schaardt says the nominations come from both county farm bureaus and in some cases the students themselves.
By winning the award, both Wolf and Johnson also get an all-expense paid trip to the National Ag In the Classroom Conference in Portland, Maine this summer.
