Nebraska Tax Revenues Jump in December

State tax receipts took a big jump in December, but state officials say that likely is due to Nebraska taxpayers responding to coming changes in the federal tax code.
State Tax Commissioner Tony Fulton says it appears taxpayers made income tax payments at the end of the year to insure they could deduct them on their federal taxes. . .

Net December tax receipts rose nearly 10-percent, a healthy increase at a time when the state has been receiving less revenue than forecast.

Fulton says the trend for Nebraska will become clearer in the following months. . .

Nebraska pulled in 415-Million dollars in net tax receipts in December, well above the forecast of 378-Million dollars.
Individual income tax receipts came in 16-percent higher than forecast.
