State tax revenue in Nebraska had a healthy bounce in January, but state officials caution not to read too much into the numbers.
State Tax Commissioner Tony Fulton is pleased net receipts for January totaled 421-Million dollars, up 11 percent above the forecast. . .
…which occurs in mid-April. Fulton says that will give him firm numbers on both income tax paid and refunds going out.
Fulton, though, points out sales tax might have exceeded expectations in January, but are up only slightly from a year ago. . .
Sales tax revenue came in slightly better than 2-percent above forecasts with individual income tax jumping up nearly 19-percent.
