The long 4th of July weekend is finally here and the Nebraska State Patrol is committed to keeping everyone traveling on the state’s roads safe.  Public Information Coordinator Deb Collins says it is estimated that 36-million Americans will be traveling by vehicle over the long holiday and their “Drive to Save Lives” effort will get underway on Sunday, July 3rd.

Collins says troopers will be putting in overtime hours to make sure everyone is obeying the rules of the road.

A $14,255 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety is funding this special enforcement that includes vehicle checks and high visibility patrols with an emphasis on impaired driving.
