Nebraska State Agriculture Director Steve Wellman has been selected as President of the Midwest Association of State Departments of Agriculture. He says the states that make up MASDA includes Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota and eight other states that have common challenges and focuses.

He says MASDA’s members and their producers are all interested in increasing trade and export opportunities and all have dealt at one time or another with the impacts of natural disasters., the most recent being flooding.

Wellman says another common issue farmers and ranchers in the states represented by MASDA have experienced are the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Wellman was selected as President at MASDA’s annual meeting earlier this month that was held virtually.
