Over the weekend Nebraska State Ag Director Greg Ibach attended the reception in China featuring the resumption of U.S. beef trade. U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue were among those at the event. Ibach says from what he heard, he expects more U.S. ag commodities to be flowing to China with beef leading the way.
He says Nebraska beef processors have been able to meet Chinese protocols and get product quickly to China without any difficulty so far.
Ibach says after meeting with U.S. Chamber of Commerce officials in China and with Chinese importers he sees a real opportunity for the United States to use high technology to get product to China’s consumers.
Besides Ambassador Terry Branstad, Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue, several U.S. Meat Export Federation members joined Nebraska State Ag Director Greg Ibach in meeting with China’s Ag Minister, Vice Premier and importers at the weekend’s events.
